Today was one of those days in my life where I was reminded how special this miracle we call life can really be. I saw the very best of humanity, and I saw the very worst of humanity. I saw how special life can be and I saw how dangerous life can be. I was reminded that life can be beautiful and I was reminded that life can be horrifying. I saw a celebration of life and I saw a homicide in life.

Life is What we Make it

I was at a funeral reception of a gentleman that my family has known for about 25 years. When they made an announcement that they were going to show a 20 minute presentation that his grandchildren had made, I was a little skeptical because I was wondering how they planned on keeping the audience’s attention for 20 minutes. When the slide show started, I was truly moved. I saw a man that truly lived an incredible life. Every picture captivated my soul because he always had an incredible smile on his face. Every picture showed an amazing connection with his wife, his children, his grand children, and his many friends. My partner Cristina who had never met this gentleman, started to cry because this slide show moved her so much. She saw the very same thing that I saw. We saw a man who made the very best of his life. Did he have problems in his life, I am sure he did. Everyone has problems at one time or another. It is not the problems in our lives that make us, it is how we handle those problems. The quality of our lives depend on the quality of our spirit. Life is what we make it, and this gentleman clearly made the very best of his life.

Then I Saw The Worst of Life

On my way home I was constantly thinking how precious life can really be. I live in a gated community right next to the gated community that my family lives in. I often stop by to see my mother on my way home. At the entrance of the community was about four different news vans reporting live. This was a shock to me because I am not used to seeing news vans outside of the gates of this subdivision. This subdivision is where Tiger Woods, Shaquille O’neil, Vince Carter and the rest of the who’s who in Orlando call home. The homes start at about 2,000,000 and go up to over 20,000,000. As I passed mansion after mansion I pulled up to a scene that seemed to be right out of a movie. I saw more police cars that I could count. I saw crime scene investigation units and I saw crime scene tape everywhere. This wasn’t CSI Miami, this was Central Florida’s most exclusive subdivision where bad things are not suppose to happen. I eventually found out that a man shot his wife in the head, ending her life. What situation in this man’s life could have possibly been so bad that he decided to take his wife’s life?

What in The World Happened?

Murder in the most exclusive community in Orlando. I don’t have all the details because it is an active homicide investigation. However, I really don’t care what the details are. Nothing in the world could’ve been so bad that drove him to kill his wife. I know that there is no reason in the world to end a life in the way that this woman’s life was ended. What went wrong? Were they facing money problems? Was their home facing foreclosure? Did one person cheat on the other? Did someone hurt the other person’s feelings badly? Who gives a damn because there is nothing in life that can make your world so bad that you need to take someone else’s life. I have faced problems in my life that I thought would destroy me. I have faced adversity that I thought would be the end of me. Guess what? I survived and every time I overcame my trials and tribulations I became a better person. I have heard of people overcoming the most difficult circumstances. I have heard of people rising from the darkest of places only to experience a glory that was once unimaginable. If someone else did it, anyone can do it.

I Don’t Give a Damn

I don’t care what challenges you face because I know that you have the power within you to overcome anything that life throws at you. I know that there is nothing that you can face that hasn’t already been conquered by someone else. Is it going to be easy? No, its going to be hard. Sometimes it is going to be extremely difficult but I know you can do it if you desire to do it. You can achieve anything you believe. Nietzsche said, “What doesn’t kill you, will only make you stronger.” I know you have problems, but there is nothing that you can’t overcome. It may look like the end of the world, but I promise you that you can overcome. Never give up hope. Cherish your life, cherish the love, and cherish the days that you are blessed to live. You are not here forever so make sure you make every moment of your life count. Your life can be extraordinary or it can be miserable. Its entirely up to you. What life are you going to live?

Are You a Stress Magnet?

People all over America are experiencing extremely high levels of stress. Major life changes, work problems, relationship difficulties, financial problems, family problems, and hectic schedules are just some of the common causes of stress. Stress can cause all kinds of health and emotional problems. The more you focus on your stress, the more it breaks you down. The more it breaks you down, the more it effects every part of your life. People who are really stressed out usually don’t know how to deal with their stress so it just gets worse for them. Their stress acts like a powerful magnet that keeps attracting more stress to their lives creating more problems and more stress. Are you acting like a giant stress magnet?

These Are Some of The Common Problems Associated With Stress:

Pain

Heart disease

Depression

Sleep Problems

Digestive Problems

Obesity

Autoimmune diseases

Top Ten Stressful Life Events According to The Holmes-Rahe Life Stress Inventory

Spouse’s

Divorce

Marriage separation

Jail term

Death of a close relative

Injury or illness

Marriage

Fired from job

Marriage reconciliation

Retirement

What Can I do to Deal With my Stress?

I don’t care who you are, how much money you have, what your degree is in, or what mountain you have climbed, you will experience stressful situations, setbacks, disappointments, and failures that are going to present you with some major trials and tribulations. What I care about is whether you choose to respond or whether you choose to react to the situation that you are experiencing. I want you to become a responder to the trials and tribulations of your life. When it comes to life, we can never control the cards we are dealt, but what we can control is how we play with the cards that we are dealt. The best way to handle any problem in your life is by using the 5/95 rule. The 5/95 rule is when you use 5% of your time analyzing the problem and 95% of your time seeking the solution.

Steps to Solve Any Situation

Start off by getting excited about your opportunity to provide a solution. Your attitude towards the situation is critical to your success. Believe that you can find the solution. Having the best attitude will always put you in the best state of mind which is very important when it comes to being a master of solutions. Stay cool, calm, and collected and never forget that you can achieve anything you believe.

Forget about what you could have done. Focus on what you are going to do. No one can change the past, but we all can change our futures. It is very important that you get the highest and best use of your time when it comes to finding solutions. So forget the past and focus on what you are going to do to find the solution.

Analyzing the situation should only take up about 5% of your time. Find out exactly what the problem is. Situation analysis is critical to your success because if you don’t know exactly what the problem is there is no way to fix it.

Spend 95% of your time seeking the solution. This is your time to shine so step up and find the solution. Don’t be afraid to take a risk. Keep trying different approaches until you succeed. Many people have achieved the unthinkable. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do the same.

Learn from the situation and move on. Don’t keep making the same mistakes. It is imperative that you use every experience in life to make you a better person. Henry Ford said, “Win or learn, there is no failure.”

Great Ways to Dealing With Stress

Your beliefs must be empowering – Believing in your abilities to achieve and your abilities to overcome adversity can be very empowering. Your beliefs can empower you to persevere through any challenges. People with weak beliefs are very vulnerable to dealing with stress, so they feel like they can’t control their future.

Your attitude and outlook – It is a proven fact that people with optimistic attitudes are more successful in every avenue of their lives. They embrace challenges because they look at it as an opportunity to overcome. They have a great sense of humor. They can deal with change because they recognize that change is a part of life.

Learn to control your thoughts and emotions – If you are angry, sad, or afraid, your ability to deal with stress drastically weakens. You must learn how to control your feelings. You control your feelings by controlling your thoughts. Bad thoughts = bad feelings. Great thoughts = great feelings. It is impossible to feel bad when your thoughts are good. You change your emotions by changing the focus of your thoughts. Your life will always follow your thoughts.

Your knowledge and preparation – The more you know about a stressful situation, the better your mind will be when it comes to dealing with it. Know things like what to expect, how long it will last, what others in your situation did to overcome.

Have fun – Do something that will take your mind off of the stress you are dealing with. Hang out with your family and friends, exercise, travel, shop. Do whatever it takes to have some fun.

Helping others – Helping other people who are less fortunate than you is a great stress reliever. Volunteer for a good cause. Mentor someone who is struggling. Anytime you help someone with no strings attached you will find yourself feeling amazing. Zig Ziglar said, “You will get everything you want in your life if you just help others get all of the things that they want.”

Life has the strangest way of getting your attention. It usually tests you when you least expect it. The key to the quality of your life is based on the grades you get when it gives you the hardest tests. I have had so many ups and downs in my life. I have had so many trials and tribulations but the two things that I have learned, is that the universe is not going to give you anything that you can’t handle and everything happens for a reason. I want you to know that life will test you often, and it will test you hard. Everyone in the world has there challenges. If you know someone who says life is perfect all the time, don’t buy into that fairy tale. However, you can prevail in life no matter what, even in its darkest days. You must learn how to become an expert under fire. You must learn how to handle its most challenging moments. Learn to respond to situations, instead of reacting to situations. You will get so much better results when you respond to situations because you will be operating at your maximum efficiency. When you are reacting to situations, you are too busy losing your cool while trying to face your adversity. This just makes everything so much harder. Why not attempt to overcome adversity with your best foot forward. Responding to challenges will make you better because no matter what happens, you will have the experience and the wisdom to help you overcome this adversity if it ever happens to present itself to you again.

Using The 5/95 Rule To Overcome Your Hardest moments.

Problem solving becomes very easy when you look at it from the right point of view. Problem solving is a critical skill for everyone in the world. The biggest corporations pay the highest amounts of money to people with this ability. Make sure you learn this skill if you are already not a master of solutions because it will drastically improve the quality of your life. Your ability to find solutions will be so important that it may one day save someone’s life. The best way to handle any situation is to use the 5/95 rule. The 5/95 is when you use 5% of your time analyzing the problem and 95% of your time seeking solutions. This method works so well that you will be so amazed by your solution finding abilities. What is done is done. There isn’t a person in the world that can turn back the hands of time. What a person can do is fix the situation. So the next time you get yourself caught up in something sticky, you know that there is always a solution any problem.

Steps To Solve Any Situation

1. Start off by getting excited about your opportunity to provide a solution. Believe that you can find the solution. Stay cool, calm, and collected. It is all about your attitude towards the situation. Having the best attitude will always put you in the best state of mind which is very important when it comes to being a master of solutions. Believe that you can do it.

2. Forget about what you could have done. It is all about what you are going to do. No one can change the past but we all can change our futures. It is very important that you get the highest and best use of your time when it comes to finding solutions.

3. Analyzing the situation should only take up about 5% of your time. This is what I like to call situation analysis. Find out exactly what the problem is. This step is crucial to your success because if you don’t know exactly what the problem is there is no way to fix it.

4. Spend 95% of your time seeking the solution. This is your time to shine so step up and find the solution. Don’t be afraid to take a risk. Keep trying different approaches until you succeed. Many people have achieved the unthinkable. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do the same.

5. Learn from the situation and move on. Don’t keep making the same mistakes. It is imperative that you use every experience in life to make you a better person. “Win or Learn, there is no failure,” Henry Ford.

The bottom line is, no matter what happens in life, look at it in the most positive light. Respond to the situation with your very best state of mind so you position yourself to overcome with your best foot forward.

How do you handle life’s hardest moments? The harder a challenge is, the more rewarding its achievement will be. Some people go through their whole lives trying to take the easy way out. These are the people who are okay with being below average. Nothing good in life will be easy to achieve. The hard challenges are always the most rewarding. They are difficult because that is how you separate the beginners from the professionals. I have always aimed to achieve the hardest goals possible because hard goals make you feel awesome when you achieve them. I desire difficult challenges because they make me stronger whether I achieve them or not. When John F. Kennedy told America that, “We don’t do things because they are easy, we do things because they are hard.” Kennedy inspired NASA and American astronauts to take their goals to the moon and back. I can’t believe the level of achievements they accomplished back in the late 60’s. Hard times need hard characters. Hard times bring out the best in our characters. We always learn so much about ourselves when life gets hard. Today, life is harder than ever. The economy is bad, crime is up, terrorism is on people’s minds. We have never been faced with so much adversity as we are faced with today, but it is time to step up. It is time for you to step up and achieve no matter how much adversity you face. Life is always going to be hard, expect it. Expect the unexpected, but respond with an unstoppable attitude that can overcome anything you face, no matter how adverse the situation may be. When life throws hard times at you, respond by challenging life with your hardest efforts. You can do it, I know you can.
