Candy Goals Are Good For You

Goals are like candy.

To say I loved candy would be a gross misrepresentation of the facts. I have eaten enough candy for about 6 lifetimes. Sometimes I would over fill my mouth with so many pieces so I could get an overload of that candy taste. I am sure that obsession to candy helped me get into the worst shape of my life. I had another obsession I want to tell you about. That obsession was achieving goals. I couldn’t get enough of that amazing feeling that follows triumph and victory. If I set my mind to doing something, you could consider it done because I was not going to rest, until I pulled it off.

Settle, FOR WHAT?

I kept pushing myself to achieve more and more because the high from achieving my desired goal would only last so long. I couldn’t get enough. Like an addict, I needed to get more of my fix. This obsession was a good thing because it always pushed me to seek new challenges. At times I didn’t even possess the skills or the knowledge required to achieve my desired goals. I didn’t let that stop me. I knew that for years, people had been stretching their abilities to achieve results beyond their current capabilities. If they could do it, I knew I could do it.

Candy Goals

My obsession to goals was very similar to my obsession to candy. I had my favorite kind of candy, but that didn’t keep me from eating the different kinds. Just like there is all kinds of candy, there’s all kinds of goals. Here is a brief list of the different kinds of goals you can accomplish.

Daily Goals             Career Goals

Monthly Goals        Relationship Goals

6 Month Goals        Personal Goals

Yearly Goals           Parenting Goals

Lifetime Goals        Health Goals

5 Year Goals          Financial Goals

10 Year Goals        Social Goals

20 Year Goals        Traveling Goals

The reason I wanted to point out to you the various types of goals is to remind you that there are countless opportunities for you to improve your life on a daily basis. You must commit your life to constant and never ending improvement in every aspect of your life. Even small daily gains lead to drastic improvements over time. Whether its a small goal or a big goal you accomplish, the fact that you are achieving your goals will only cultivate you more success because you will be creating goal momentum in your life. Success brings more success. When I knock out one goal, I look for the next one and then its on to the next one.

Your Turn to Become The Candy Goal Monster

If you don’t have goals in your life, you don’t have a clear path. Without a clear path, who knows where you will end up. If you want to go through your life without a clear destination, go right ahead and take yourself to no man’s land. If you want to go to the promise land of Abundance Mountain, you need to know what your destination is, and you need a sound strategy on how you plan on getting there. Reset your mind of any negative thoughts or limiting beliefs that you may have. Focus your thoughts on the results that you desire and chase it with the fierce URGENCY OF NOW. Make a concrete commitment that you will do whatever it takes until you get there. Make sure you use any failure you experience as a stepping stone and not a stumbling block. Don’t ever listen to what a spirit sniper or a dream stealer says you can’t do. It only matters what you believe you can do.

Now is the time for you to become a goal slayer. Act like you are the CANDY GOAL MONSTER. You need to munch on goals like I used to munch on candy. You need to make winning your obsession.

Just remember, just like you climb Mount Everest one step at a time, you eat a giant candy goal one bite at a time. You can achieve anything you believe with power and control over your thoughts and actions. Take your passion and make it happen.

Tough Questions Suck, But You Have to Ask Them

Many people will fail to reach their full potential because they are afraid to ask themselves the tough questions. Tough questions usually have tough answers that we really don’t like to hear. Are you afraid of the answers to your tough questions? Is that why you are not asking them of yourself? Don’t drown in the river of denial. Don’t postpone asking yourself those difficult questions any longer. You know what you’re not happy about. You know where you are in your life today. It doesn’t matter how you got here, you are here. You can’t afford to dwell in the past because you can’t change it. What matters the most is the decision you make today. What matters the most is the action you take moving forward.

Sitting on your butt got you here today. Are you going to sit back and expect to change by continuing to sit on your butt? I don’t think so. Benjamin Franklin said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. You are not insane. Stop acting like it. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing you are going to keep getting what you’ve been getting except it only gets worse. Don’t be your own worst enemy. Don’t sabotage the quality of your life by failing to reach your full potential. No one is going to help you. You must help yourself. You have to want it in your life. You have to accept the fact that something must change. You must be the catalyst of that change. Don’t succumb to the tranquilizing drug of procrastination. Get off your ass and take some massive action because time isn’t on your side.

Make a promise to live better. Make a commitment to give yourself a better quality of life. Decide right now to take control of your destiny. Get going on the best days of your life. The decision you make today can shape your future like nothing else can. Empower yourself today. Elevate your life to the next level and don’t stop climbing. The promise land of success and happiness has a view that makes utopia look like a garbage landfill.

Don’t play games with your life, because life is not a game. Its a journey. We get to determine our destination. Are you going to the dark and desolate desert of despair? Or are you going to the empowering mountaintop of the extraordinary life? Take the first step now. Take control of your life today. The greatest day of your life will be the one on which you decided to take total control of your life. The day you stopped making excuses on why you couldn’t. The day you decided to make yourself accountable for your own actions. On that day, you will experience a freedom that’s just exhilarating. That will be the day where your life truly begins. That will be the day that shapes your destiny. You are the navigator of your life. Take yourself to the top of promise land mountain. The view is mesmerizing. Make the rest of your life, the best of your life. Take massive action now.

What’s at Stake? Everything

What’s at Stake

Thomas Edison claimed to have failed over 10,000 times while trying to invent electricity. How was he able to stay so committed to achieving his desired goal after failing so much? Thomas Edison knew what was at stake. He knew that his legacy as one of the greatest inventors of all time depended on him inventing electricity.

Thomas Edison said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is often a step forward.” He believed that every failure he experienced was only getting him closer to finding the solution to his problem. How many people would’ve quit when facing the same adversity as he faced?

It is almost impossible to achieve something extraordinary without experiencing some kind of setback or temporary defeat. One of my idols Napoleon Hill said, “No man ever achieved worthwhile success who did not, at one time or another, find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure. One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.”

I can’t tell you how many times I have found myself on the brink of failure, only to succeed? It is one of life’s most rewarding feelings to know that you’ve succeeded when you were so close to failing. Have you found yourself in that position before? What kept you from throwing in the towel? I guarantee that you had too much to lose to quit.

Fear of Loss Or Hope For Gain?

When you set out to achieve something extraordinary, you must consider what’s at stake for you. What have you got to lose if you don’t make it? What do you have to gain when you achieve your desired goal? The more reasons why you have to achieve your desired goal, the more motivation and determination you will have to achieve your desired goal. The more reasons why you have behind your cause, the more committed you will stay when things don’t go your way.

Trust me, there will come a time when you are cruising down easy street on your way to achieving your goal and something is going to knock you so hard on your ass that you might not even know what hit you. When you are facing that painful feeling of failure, your judgement is not where it needs to be. That’s when that devilish little voice in your head is going to try to persuade you to quit. Lets face it, quitting is usually the easy thing to do. Everyone is doing it, its okay if you quit, right? Wrong, I’ve quit before and it sucks. There are still skeletons in my closet from throwing in the towel when I should’ve soldiered on. I can’t take that back, and neither can you. Do you have some quitting skeletons in your closet? We can’t change the past but we are in total control of our future. Its entirely up to us to make sure we never make the same mistake again. The best way to do that is to totally understand what’s at stake. Understand what you have to lose. Understand what you have to gain. Understand that you can achieve anything you believe.

Next Time I Will Persevere

The next time you find yourself on the brink of failure, its okay. Failure is a part of the journey. Failure is a chance to begin again more intelligently. Failure is just an outcome, that’s all it is, its just an outcome. Take a deep breath and focus on all the reasons why you have to keep on keeping on. Focus on everything you have to gain. Focus on everything you have to lose. The more reasons you have, the more empowered you will be. Anyone can quit when the going gets tough. It takes a real winner to persevere in the face of adversity. If I can do it, then so can you. Winners never quit and quitters never win.

Step by Step to Greatness

Mt. Everest

Going to The Top of The World

Mt. Everest is a mystical place that attracts thousands of mountain climbers every year with a dream of successfully reaching the top. The summit of Mt. Everest is 29,035 feet above sea-level, it is affectionately known as the top of the world. Can you imagine what the view must be like from up there? When a mountain climber wants to reach the summit of Mount Everest, they don’t step away from it. They take little steps towards the summit. Some climbers take more little steps than others do to reach the top. I guarantee those climbers who have successfully climbed Mt. Everest didn’t care how many steps it took, they only cared about getting to the top and returning back safely. Lets face it, as long as you get to the top, the view is always the same.

There are all kinds of people who have scaled Mt. Everest. These men and women had a dream to do what so few have done. Everyone who has scaled Mt. Everest had a different story but they shared the same dream. The success stories that can be told about these extraordinary people are simply amazing to say the least. We can talk about fearless Mark Ingles, who lost both of his legs in a previous mountain climbing accident. This man scaled Mt. Everest on two artificial legs in 2006 to become the first double amputee to climb Mt. Everest. Then there is my friend Mark, his brother Erik Weihenmayer became the first blind man to climb Mt. Everest. When he first told me about his brother, I thought he was kidding. Not only was he serious, but he proceeded to tell me that Erik had climbed Mt. Everest two times. A blind man who scaled Mt. Everest twice? FORGETTABOUTIT. Are you kidding me? I think I saw Erik walking on water yesterday. Talk about two individuals who didn’t let their challenges get in the way of their dreams. Talk about believing in your abilities to make your dreams come true. These two achievers showed the world That anything is possible when you have a dream. I want to see someone try to tell these two achievers they can’t do something.

Secret to Success

“What is the secret to success Hooman?” That is one of the questions I constantly get asked wherever I go. In fact, I used to ask that same question myself whenever I met someone who was successful. The most common answer I would get is that cliche answer that everyone gives, “It requires lots and lots of hard work young man.” I am sure you’ve heard that too, haven’t you? I got news for you, it requires a little more than just hard work.

What they forget to tell me about is all the little steps that had to accompany all that hard work. They forgot to mention all the little decisions they had to successfully make along the way to achieve their dreams. Whether your dream is to become a multi-millionaire, get a higher education, climb Mt. Everest, or you want to get into the best shape of your life, you will only achieve your desired goals by continuously taking little steps in the right direction. I call this “SMART WORK” not hard work.

What is SMART WORK?

Hard work is what they do in construction, SMART WORK is what smart people do. Smart people ask themselves in the morning, “What can I do today, that will get me closer to achieving my desired goals?” They don’t waste their precious time playing games or beating around the bush. They are all about taking action towards the promise land of success. They can’t afford to waste time because that is only going to delay them from the success that they deeply desire. Smart people know that standing still is the same as moving backwards. Even if they only make a little progress everyday, as long as they are making progress in the right direction. They are committed to constant and never ending improvement so they know it will only be a matter of time before they achieve their desired goals. Smart people never lose their focus when it comes to achieving their hopes, goals, dreams, and desires. What are you focused on daily? What is your dream?

What Little Steps Are You Taking Daily?

Where are your little steps taking you? Are they running you around in circles? Are they taking you away from your desired goals? If your answer to that question is yes, then stop taking them. Stop navigating your life in the wrong direction. Start charting a course that is going to take you to the promise land of success. You are the pilot of your life, you are in total control of your destiny. Don’t go down that road that is going to lead you to nowhere, cause nowhere is still somewhere. Its just not where you want to be. Trust me, I have been nowhere in the past and the view sucks big time compared to the view from the promise land of success. Time is not on your side so stop wasting it. Now is the time to start taking those steps that are going to get you to your promise land of success. Even baby steps are better than standing still. So ask yourself this question everyday, “What can I do today that will get me closer to making my dreams come true?”

Taking Action Will Lead You to Success

INTENTION TO ACTION

Millions of people wake up everyday with the greatest intentions to achieve all kinds of amazing accomplishments. Countless people intend on making the world a better place with their fabulous inventions that they’ve been thinking of for ages. While countless people intend on improving their lives by becoming self employed or finding a better career. The list of these great intentions could go on forever. So many people have so many good intentions that they are drowning themselves with these GOOD intentions. Aldous Huxley said, “Hell isn’t merely paved with good intentions, it is walled and roofed with them.”

Great Intentions = What? Depends on YOU!

Whether your intention is to change your horrible attitude so you won’t be so negative all the time, improve the quality of your relationship with your partner, or to start exercising so you won’t feel like crap every time you look in the mirror, these intentions are absolutely WORTHLESS unless you are backing them up with MASSIVE ACTION.

In fact, some intentions could end up killing you if you don’t act upon them immediately. The smoker who intends on quitting ends up dead if they don’t take action and quit smoking. Obese individuals end up with all kinds of medical problems that all lead to death if they don’t take care of their health. The alcoholic can lose their life in many ways if they don’t quit their drinking. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR INTENTIONS?

TIME FOR SOME ACTION

Now is not the time to take the tranquilizing drug of procrastination. Now is the time to take MASSIVE ACTION. You are not here forever, so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SOMEONE TO TAKE ACTION FOR YOU? Let me know how that works out for you. YOU AND ONLY YOU CAN TURN YOUR INTENTIONS INTO ACTIONS. Don’t be afraid to fail, BE AFRAID OF NOT TAKING ACTION. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. THE GREATEST RISK IS THE ONE THAT YOU DON’T TAKE. ACTION CONQUERS ALL FEAR. Get fired up and go after it with the FIERCE URGENCY OF RIGHT NOW. ACT AS IF IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL. Stop intending and start doing. Whatever it is that you desire to do, JUST DO IT. People from all over the world are achieving greatness right as we speak. The only difference between you and them is ACTION.

REMEMBER, YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING YOU DESIRE IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOUR ABILITIES TO ACHIEVE. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN.

THINK IT

BELIEVE IT

THEN YOU WILL SEE IT

NOW GO OUT THERE AND TAKE SOME MASSIVE ACTION TODAY.

Glory Days

Saturday Night Fever

Stuck in a Moment And You Can’t Get Out

When I see someone rocking a ridiculous looking disco outfit that looks like it came from the movie Saturday Night Fever, I can’t help but wonder….. Is this guy trying to get arrested by the fashion police? Or is he just stuck in a moment that he can’t get out of? Whether its the scars of their past failures or the sweet memories of their GLORY DAYS, there are countless people who refuse to let go of their past.

Jan Glidewell said, “You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.” Its very unhealthy and useless to waste your precious time dwelling on the pains and failures of yesterday because all you are doing is prolonging your pain. Wasting the present just adds to your wasted past because today is tomorrow’s yesterday. All this does is recycle your pain.

Now is definitely not the time to be living in the past. Now is definitely not the time to talk about what you use to be able to do. Now is the time to show the world what you can do NOW. No one can change the past but everyone can control their future. To succeed in today’s world is harder than ever. Don’t sabotage your future because you are stuck in the past. Focus your thoughts on making the rest of your life, the best of your life. Focus on the empowering thoughts that are going to elevate your life to new heights tomorrow. Your glory days are gone if you let them be gone.

I don’t care who you are, or what you have been through. Its never too late for you to make your dreams come true. Its never too late to get into the best shape of your life. Its never too late to experience that dream love that you have always desired. Its never too late to scratch that goal off your bucket list. Don’t worry about what others believe you can do, worry about what you believe you can do. YOU WANT GLORY? GO GET YOUR GLORY. You want success? GO GET IT NOW. You want to get in to shape? Then go get YOUR SEXY BACK. You want to climb the tallest mountain? THEN CLIMB IT ONE STEP AT A TIME UNTIL YOU GET TO THE TOP. You are in control of your future. You are the navigator of your life. Choose your destination and don’t stop until you get there. Use the obstacles in front of you as STEPPING STONES and NOT STUMBLING BLOCKS. Your dreams will only come true if you make them come true. Achieving greatness is always easier said than done, but I know there is nothing you can’t do if you believe in your abilities to achieve. All of my GLORY DAYS ARE AHEAD OF ME. WHAT ABOUT YOUR GLORY DAYS? ARE YOUR GLORY DAYS AHEAD OF YOU? OR ARE YOUR GLORY DAYS BEHIND YOU? Go out and make the rest of your life the best of your life. LETS TAKE SOME ACTION NOW BECAUSE YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING YOU BELIEVE.

Core Workout That I Used to Lose 30 lbs. in 100 Days

I train the core of my body every other day. I do a circuit of several exercises. I do this for three sets with 2 minutes rest between each set. The first set I am able to complete with no rest in between exercises. Sets 2 and 3 I have to take little breaks here and there. The more rest you take, the less effective the cardio burn you get in return. My goal is to get through all three sets with only the 2 minute rest periods between sets. This is an AWESOME CORE WORKOUT.

Getting back into shape has empowered me in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I feel absolutely amazing. I suggest you take total control of your physical fitness ASAP so you can experience incredible health. Don’t say you can’t because you can. You just have to make a small sacrifice and the return you get will be priceless. Now is the time, to take total control of your mind, body, and soul. You deserve to feel AMAZING. I Have to Achieve This Goal

I weighed 205.8 pounds when I started my Fight Against Fat on 9/23/2009. My goal was to weigh 165 pounds by 1/1/2010. This wasn’t a crazy lose weight fast diet I started. This was a new lifestyle I decided to lead after looking in the mirror and seeing an overweight person that I didn’t recognize.

I was so disgusted with the physique that I had earned myself by eating bad and skipping workouts. I knew that a drastic change was desperately needed. I didn’t have just a “SWEET TOOTH” I had the whole “SWEET MOUTH” I knew some massive, massive action was needed if I wanted to get to my desired weight of 165 pounds by the new year.

I started working out like a possessed man on a mission. I started eating nothing but fish, chicken, steak, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and lots of protein bars. I was eating six small meals a day versus the huge portions I used to pig out on. I stayed absolutely dedicated to my workout routine by exercising 6 days a week. I charted my progress in a workout journal so I knew exactly what I had to do to push myself a little further by the workout.

The results were awesome. I had more energy and motivation than ever before. I was seeing the fat come off as the muscles were slowly growing stronger. I now weigh 181 pounds and I feel great. However, the goal was to hit 165 pounds. I now have 20 days to lose the last 16 pounds. The only way I am going to make this happen is if I get totally focused on the outcome that I desire. It needs to become my obsession. There is no way I am going to fail.

Now is the time for me to add more fuel to my burning desire to succeed. Now is the time to workout harder than I already have. Its the final countdown and I am more focused than ever. As the finish line approaches quickly, I know exactly what I have to do to make this happen. I am going to achieve this. I am going to hit my desired weight of 165 pounds. The picture below is the body I am after. He weighs 155 pounds.

This is the body I am after. This guy weighs 155 pounds

If I lost 25 pounds since 9/23/2009, you can too. Join me as we burn the fat. Join me and take care of your mind, body, and soul. Now is not the time to take the tranquilizing drug of procrastination. Now is the time to take control of your health so you can live long and live strong. Take your passion and make it happen.

Walking Away From a Challenge is Easy

Life’s Turning Points

Have you ever been in a situation where you had felt absolutely defeated from one of life’s challenging moments? Did you feel the pain of what you were facing just too difficult to endure?  Did you figure that walking away was going to be easier than the pain of keeping on? When people face extreme challenges in life, the easy thing for them to do is walk away and quit. No one likes to face trials and tribulations in life. No one likes to endure pain and suffering if they don’t have to. Difficulties make average people quit when they face life’s turning points.

Walking away from something is usually the easy thing to do? The difficulties and pain that people experience often clouds their judgement. When people are faced with the difficult question of whether they should quit or whether they should proceed, they fail to realize that this could be the turning point of their lives. You see when life is dark, it becomes difficult to see the light. It is during these dark times when stars shine the brightest. People often fail to realize that they are at a turning point in their lives. They fail to realize that their decision could either make their lives or it could break their lives. No one has ever achieved great success in their lives without finding themselves on the verge of walking away and quitting. No one has ever been successful without experiencing the trials and tribulations of failure. It was during these turning points that separates the winners from the losers and the achievers from the failures.

The X Factor

Napoleon Hill said, “One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.”  Failure is only permanent when you have accepted it as permanent. A little more perseverance, a little more determination, and belief in your abilities is what usually separates total failure from the glory of success.

If you are at a turning point in your life, walking away may seem like the easy thing to do. It also might seem like the logical thing to do at the moment because you think that your pain will not last that long. However, walking away doesn’t come for free. Walking away often comes with the scars to your soul that quitting brings. Walking away also brings the everlasting doubt of what could’ve been if you had just persevered a little longer. Napoleon Bonaparte “Victory belongs to the most persevering.” When you find yourself at one of life’s defining moments, think long and hard at what you are about to do because you will have to live with the consequences forever. Quitting something you love, something that you’ve dreamed about will scar you forever.  Remember that pleasure is on the other side of pain. Sometimes the most painful things in your life can end up being the most rewarding things in your life. Quitters never win, and winners never quit. When you face life’s toughest moments, you answer with your unstoppable resolve. You persevere until you succeed because the greatest things in life often come with the cost of your blood, sweat, and tears. Quitting might come with temporary pain, but the scar to your soul will never go away. I thing that I will promise you is that when you do overcome your adversity and succeed, the reward will totally eclipse the pain it cost you to make it happen.
