What’s Wrong With Being Overweight? These are 13 Health Consequences Associated With Obesity

1. Increased Health Risk of Premature Death

2. Cardiovascular disease (mainly heart disease and stroke) which is already the world’s number one cause of death, killing 17 million people each year.

3. Diabetes which has rapidly become a global epidemic. WHO projects that diabetes deaths will increase by more than 50% worldwide in the next 10 years.

4. Musculoskeletal disorders – especially osteoarthritis

5. Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)

6. Hypertension (high blood pressure)

7. Dyslipidemia (high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)

8. Liver and gallbladder disease

9. Sleep apnea and respiratory problems

10. Osteoarthritis (degeneration of cartilage and underlying bone within a joint)

11. Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility

12 and 13 are from www.AnnCollins.com

12. Psychological and Social Effects of Obesity

Emotional suffering may be one of the most painful parts of obesity. American society emphasizes physical appearance and often equates attractiveness with slimness, especially for women. Such messages make overweight people feel unattractive.

13. Attitude to Obesity and Severe Overweight

One obesity study asked severely obese persons to take a forced-choice questionnaire. That means, they had to make a choice between being at their present weight or having some other given illness. The results were astounding. Although there were some variations, every obese person said that they would rather be blind or have one leg amputated than be at their present heavy weight. Most interestingly, every person would rather be a poor thin person than be a morbidly obese millionaire.

Are you obese? Find out for yourself by checking out your body mass index now.

Body Mass Index Categories

Normal weight = 18.5-24.9

Overweight = 25-29.9

3 Steps to Making Any Change

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Are you struggling to make a lasting change that you know you have to make to improve the quality of your life? Is this much needed change something that you know you should have done long ago? What are you waiting for? The change will not happen by itself. You have to make it happen.

If you really want change in your life, you must be the catalyst of your own change, you must realize that the only person in the world that can make that change is you. You must make that decision that change is your only option.

Here are 3 steps to making a lasting change. Write down these steps with your answers. Review them daily until you achieve the change that you desire.

1. Decide what it is that you want to change. Ask yourself what is stopping you today from making the change that you desire? Write down how bad you want to make this change. Write down how hard you are going to work until you make this change. Write down what your reward is going to be when you achieve your change.

2. Get massively motivated to change. You have to create a powerful force that will motivate you to make the lasting change that you desire.

A. Get yourself to associate massive pain to not changing now. Write down all the negative outcomes that will happen to you if you don’t change now. Write down as many negatives as you can think of. The more the better. Ask yourself, “How will my life be if I don’t make this change now?” Make your pain so intense that you will be terrified of putting off your change. The more pain you link to not changing, the more motivated you will be.

B. Focus on of all the pleasure you will have in your life when you achieve this change that you desire. Write down as many compelling reasons as you can so that you motivate yourself to make this change. The more reasons you write down, the more inspired you will be to make that change. Ask yourself, “How incredible will I feel when I make this change? Who else in my life will benefit when I make this change? What kind of momentum will my change create in my life?” You have to get yourself to realize that your change is an absolute must. The only way to create a lasting change is to create major urgency on why you have to change now. You must be absolutely compelled to make this change now. If you are not determined to change now, you will not have enough motivation to change.

3. Believe in your abilities of making this change happen. You must not believe in failure. Remember, failure is just an outcome. If you don’t get the outcome you are looking for, you must change your approach until you succeed. You must have conviction pushing your desire to change. You must be willing to give it your absolute best. If you don’t give it your best you are not going to change. You have to decide that you are not giving up until you succeed.

Millions of people worldwide have changes in their lives that they know they have to make or else they will suffer major consequences. Some of these people can die if they don’t make these changes but they still fail to change. I recently had to make a drastic change in my life. Don’t let anything get in the way of the changes that you need to make in your life.

I know you can do anything you desire. Get excited about making changes in your life. Keep your eye on the prize and don’t look back. I know you can do it. Make it happen now.

Fight Against Fat. Part 1 My Personal Battle With Obesity

Obesity Pandemic

There’s a deadly battle going on in the world today that is just taking the life out of the world’s population. The devastating affects of this battle are horrifying to say the least. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there are over 1.7 billion overweight people worldwide. People who are obese (BMI greater than 30) have a 50 to 100 percent increased risk of premature death from various causes compared to individuals with a healthy weight. Anyone who is overweight is putting their lives in serious danger. Are you at risk?

This Battle is Only Getting Worse

The obesity pandemic is something that has the World Health Organization very concerned. Worldwide, 40% of men and 30% of women are now overweight, and 24% of men and 27% of women are obese. They project that by 2015, approximately 2.3 billion adults will be overweight. Adults and children are eating more than ever and they are just not exercising enough. Their chances of serious health problems increase progressively as their body mass index (BMI) increases. Its almost like people are killing themselves slowly with every bite they eat.

I Don’t Have to Worry About my Weight

I want to make you fully aware that there is not much space between physically fit and obesity. My entire life I was always in great shape and I never had to worry about my weight. I would workout often and I would eat healthy foods. Unfortunately because of my busy schedule, I started to miss some workouts here and there. Before I knew it, I was thirty pounds overweight and in the worst shape of my life. I didn’t realize that my workout routine had become a routine of missing workouts. My clothes were getting tighter as denial prevented me from taking action. Suddenly I was 205 pounds and obese according to body mass index charts. It happened so fast I couldn’t believe it. Can you relate to what happened to me?

Danger Hooman, Danger

Not only did I look bad compared to my old physique, but I put myself into serious danger. My BMI of 30.4 had me in a position of risk that I couldn’t afford to take. Not only did I have to make a change, I had to make a lasting change. Last year I failed at a previous attempt to achieve my desire weight of 165. I started experiencing results but after getting down to 185, I lost my focus and dedication which led me to balloon back up to that dreaded 200 pound plus number. I decided that nothing was going to stop me from achieving my goal this time around. I wasn’t going to make the same mistakes that prevented me from accomplishing my goal. I couldn’t believe what happened next.

Think it, Believe it, & Then You Will See it

The universe answer my thoughts with unbelievable urgency. A company called GymFlex Fitness asked me to appear in their infomercial for the upcoming launch of their GymFlex Transformer so I could motivate people to commit to making a healthy lifestyle choice. This GymFlex Transformer is incredible. After meeting with the owners, we both believed that by networking together, we could inspire people to make an empowering lifestyle choice that would better their minds, their bodies, and their lives. They provided me a GymFlex Transformer so I could get started with reshaping my body in time for the taping of the infomercial. The pressure to succeed is on because I am not going to let myself down this time around. I am determined to make it no matter what happens along the way. I will be documenting my journey by sharing with you everything from my diet to specific details from my workout schedule. I will be taking before and after pictures so we can analyze my progress. I know I am going to have the determination and discipline to achieve my goal of getting to my desired weight of 165 pounds. I am very excited about the challenge that I have in front of me. However, I really don’t look at it as a challenge. I look at it as a lifestyle choice that is going to allow me to enjoy a level of fitness that will give me countless benefits in many areas of my life. I challenge you to commit to this healthy lifestyle. Being just a little overweight can put you in major danger of bad health. Are you in or are you out?

One Life to Live

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

One Life to Live

Today was one of those days in my life where I was reminded how special this miracle we call life can really be. I saw the very best of humanity, and I saw the very worst of humanity. I saw how special life can be and I saw how dangerous life can be. I was reminded that life can be beautiful and I was reminded that life can be horrifying. I saw a celebration of life and I saw a homicide in life.

Life is What we Make it

I was at a funeral reception of a gentleman that my family has known for about 25 years. When they made an announcement that they were going to show a 20 minute presentation that his grandchildren had made, I was a little skeptical because I was wondering how they planned on keeping the audience’s attention for 20 minutes. When the slide show started, I was truly moved. I saw a man that truly lived an incredible life. Every picture captivated my soul because he always had an incredible smile on his face. Every picture showed an amazing connection with his wife, his children, his grand children, and his many friends. My partner Cristina who had never met this gentleman, started to cry because this slide show moved her so much. She saw the very same thing that I saw. We saw a man who made the very best of his life. Did he have problems in his life, I am sure he did. Everyone has problems at one time or another. It is not the problems in our lives that make us, it is how we handle those problems. The quality of our lives depend on the quality of our spirit. Life is what we make it, and this gentleman clearly made the very best of his life.

Then I Saw The Worst of Life

On my way home I was constantly thinking how precious life can really be. I live in a gated community right next to the gated community that my family lives in. I often stop by to see my mother on my way home. At the entrance of the community was about four different news vans reporting live. This was a shock to me because I am not used to seeing news vans outside of the gates of this subdivision. This subdivision is where Tiger Woods, Shaquille O’neil, Vince Carter and the rest of the who’s who in Orlando call home. The homes start at about 2,000,000 and go up to over 20,000,000. As I passed mansion after mansion I pulled up to a scene that seemed to be right out of a movie. I saw more police cars that I could count. I saw crime scene investigation units and I saw crime scene tape everywhere. This wasn’t CSI Miami, this was Central Florida’s most exclusive subdivision where bad things are not suppose to happen. I eventually found out that a man shot his wife in the head, ending her life. What situation in this man’s life could have possibly been so bad that he decided to take his wife’s life?

What in The World Happened?

Murder in the most exclusive community in Orlando. I don’t have all the details because it is an active homicide investigation. However, I really don’t care what the details are. Nothing in the world could’ve been so bad that drove him to kill his wife. I know that there is no reason in the world to end a life in the way that this woman’s life was ended. What went wrong? Were they facing money problems? Was their home facing foreclosure? Did one person cheat on the other? Did someone hurt the other person’s feelings badly? Who gives a damn because there is nothing in life that can make your world so bad that you need to take someone else’s life.  I have faced problems in my life that I thought would destroy me. I have faced adversity that I thought would be the end of me. Guess what? I survived and every time I overcame my trials and tribulations I became a better person. I have heard of people overcoming the most difficult circumstances. I have heard of people rising from the darkest of places only to experience a glory that was once unimaginable. If someone else did it, anyone can do it.

I Don’t Give a Damn

I don’t care what challenges you face because I know that you have the power within you to overcome anything that life throws at you. I know that there is nothing that you can face that hasn’t already been conquered by someone else. Is it going to be easy? No, its going to be hard. Sometimes it is going to be extremely difficult but I know you can do it if you desire to do it. You can achieve anything you believe. Nietzsche said, “What doesn’t kill you, will only make you stronger.” I know you have problems, but there is nothing that you can’t overcome. It may look like the end of the world, but I promise you that you can overcome. Never give up hope. Cherish your life, cherish the love, and cherish the days that you are blessed to live. You are not here forever so make sure you make every moment of your life count. Your life can be extraordinary or it can be miserable. Its entirely up to you. What life are you going to live?

Martin Luther King said, “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.”

Please take care of yourself,

16 Differences Between Achievers and Non-Achievers

Difference Between Achievers and Under-Achievers

Everyone has the inspiration inside of them to achieve anything they desire. The question is IF they desire to achieve greatness? We are all created equal but not everyone is getting the same results. There are over-achievers and there are under-achievers. A very small percentage of the world is successful while the majority of the world is just getting by. What’s the difference between these two? I thought you would never ask.

Achievers and Non-Achievers

1. Achievers have a dream. Non-Achievers don’t.

Achievers have a plan and they work their plan. Non-achievers plan on nothing.

2. Achievers believe they can. Non-achievers believe they can’t.

3. Achievers believe in their abilities to achieve the success that they desire. Non-achievers believed whoever told them that they would never make it.

4. Achievers are empowered by their thoughts. Non-achievers are demoralized by their thoughts.

5. Achievers are motivated by their burning desire to succeed. Non-achievers have no burning desire to succeed.

6. Achievers get inspired by challenges. Non-achievers walk away from challenges.

7. Achievers don’t believe in failing. They keep trying different approaches until they succeed. Non-achievers believe they are destined to fail. They usually give up trying after a few tries.

8. Achievers work hard and play harder. Non-achievers are all play and barely work.

9. Achievers are always positive because they know how important a positive mental attitude is. Non-achievers are always negative and they criticize those who are positive.

10. Achievers always try to help others achieve greatness. Non-achievers try to sabotage other peoples success.

11. Achievers look for opportunities. Non-achievers let opportunities go to achievers.

12. Achievers are innovative, creative, and passionate about their lives. Non-achievers are lazy, boring, and they lack passion.

13. Achievers hold themselves accountable. Non-achievers make excuses and always blame someone else for their failures.

14. Achievers embrace change. They consistently try to grow because they are committed to constant and never ending improvement. Non-achievers are afraid to change because they think that there is nothing wrong with them.

15. Achievers never settle for anything less than the best. Non-achievers always settle for just okay.

16. Achievers always stretch their abilities so they can learn something beyond their current capabilities. Non-achievers rarely try to accomplish something new because they are afraid to fail.

If there is anything you can think of, please share with me in the comments section.

Remember, you can achieve anything you desire.

Motivate Yourself

Motivate Yourself

Are you a motivated person that can turn on the motivation at the flip of a switch? To become a motivated person, you have got to learn how to motivate yourself. There are millions of people who go through self help seminars daily that couldn’t even motivate themselves if their lives depended on it. These people are usually motivated to do one thing and one thing only. They are motivated to make excuses why they can’t achieve.

Become Your Own Motivational Speaker

Becoming your own motivational speaker will help you develop that motivational voice from within that can coach and inspire you to be the best that you can be. The way that you feel depends on the way that you think. Motivated thinking = motivated feelings. Demoralizing thinking = demoralizing feelings. It is critical that you control the way that you think if you want to feel motivated.

Keep You Motivated

Keeping yourself motivated requires a little more than just thinking motivated thoughts. In addition to motivated thoughts, you must also consistently ask yourself motivating questions. If you don’t ask yourself motivating and empowering questions you are going to find yourself in a struggle when you are facing a situation that is incredibly challenging. People find themselves in a panic because they come across a setback that just knocks them on their butts. To keep yourself motivated, you must have the resolve and the determination to stay motivated and optimistic no matter what challenge comes your way.  You must respond to any challenge in your life with the optimistic belief that you can overcome no matter how difficult it may look at the moment. Consistently tell yourself, “I can achieve anything I believe. I can achieve anything I believe. I can achieve anything I believe.”

We all know that life is going to give us trials and tribulations. How we respond to those trials and tribulations will make the difference in our lives. Motivating thoughts will get us motivated, empowering questions will keep us motivated. Become your own personal motivational speaker by consistently focusing on motivating thoughts. Learn to ask yourself empowering questions that will inspire you to overcome any challenge that you face. Burn into your mind that you can achieve anything you believe and you will keep yourself motivated.

How do you keep yourself motivated? Share with me in the comments section what you do to keep yourself motivated.

How to Have Your Dream Relationship. Follow These 8 Rules

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Dream Relationship

Are you in the relationship of your dreams? If the answer is no, you are definitely missing out on one of life’s most precious gifts, the gift of love. Successful relationships don’t happen by accident. Successful relationships happen when the couples involved take the necessary actions to make their love last. Successful relationships require hard work, dedication, commitment, and compromise. Just like everything else in life, the more you put into your relationship, the more you will get out of it.

If you are going to be in a relationship, why not make your relationship the very best that it can be? Why not make your love story extraordinary. Why not give your relationship the essentials of a successful relationship?

Relationship Rules

1. FUN – You must have fun together as a couple. Couples that have fun together, stay    together.

2. RESPECT – Become masters of conflict resolution. No matter who you are or how much you love each other, you are going to experience some differences. Handle your differences peacefully. Always remember to consider your partner’s point of view as well as your own.

3. ROMANCE – Keep the romance alive at all cost. Find out what your partner likes and do what it takes to please them. The more romance in your relationship, the more love you will experience. Keep the romance alive and your love for each other will never die.

4. COMMUNICATION – Successful communication is the key to a successful relationship. The better you communicate with each other, the better your relationship will be. Bad communication is one of the major reasons why relationships often fail. Don’t fail to communicate.

5. FRIENDSHIP – Successful couples are often best friends. Reaching best friend status with your partner will often lead to an incredibly rewarding relationship. It also strengthens the bond between couples by adding more trust and loyalty. Being best friends will make your relationship stronger than ever while increasing your chances of success.

6. TRUST – Never violate the trust of your relationship. Once trust is lost, it is difficult to get trust back. Building trust with your partner will only make your bond stronger. It is imperative you honor the trust in your relationship because if you do, you will always have someone you can count on.

7. JEALOUSY – Never do anything that can make your partner jealous. Jealous partners are hazardous to the success of any relationship.

8. APPRECIATION – Appreciate your partner everyday like they are treasure. Humans crave appreciation. If your partner feels appreciated, they are more likely to keep doing what they did to capture your heart. Keep your love alive by keeping the appreciation alive.

My Relationship is Like

My relationship to Cristina has been magical for the last five years. She is my best friend and we have a blast together. We have been inseparable since day one. The reason my relationship with Cristina has been so incredible is because we have made it that way. I know we both have followed these rules to a successful relationship and I firmly believe that’s exactly why our love has been so rewarding from day 1. If you want to have a special relationship, it is up to you to make it special. Follow these relationship rules and I can assure you that your relationship will be incredible.

What is The Meaning of Your Life

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Meaning of LifeDo you know what the meaning in your life is? Do you know what your purpose in this world is? Viktor Frankl said, “Man’s search for meaning is the primary motivation in his life.” Viktor Frankl’s book “Man’s Search for Meaning” isn’t really about his fours years at various Nazi concentration camps, it’s about how he found the strength to miraculously survive during those desperate times. His survival was often inspired by the famous Nietzsche quote that stated, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Frankl said that those prisoners that lost all hope and gave up on their lives were inevitably the first ones to die. Being a psychiatrist, Viktor Frankl knew that most people in those camps didn’t die from a lack of food or medicine. He knew that most of them died from lack of hope or lack of something to live for. Once this hope was lost, the will to live almost never returned.

Search For Meaning

Everyone has their own mission in life, their own purpose. What gives me meaning might mean nothing to you. It is critical for you to discover your meaning in this world so you can live your life with passion and purpose. Getting banned from every NBA arena helped me discover my purpose in life. When you discover your meaning in life, you will discover a higher level of inspiration, passion, and determination. When you live with meaning in your life, you will be happier than ever. When you discover your purpose in this world your levels of enlightenment will soar to new levels. Your goals will be easier to achieve. You relationships will get better than ever. You will look forward to a future filled with promise and possibilities. Do you know what the driving force in your life is? Discover your purpose today so the rest of your life can be the best of your life.

Indoctrinate Yourself to Create Mind Power Like The Elite Special Forces

Friday, September 4th, 2009

PJ HALO drop Indoctrinate Yourself to Create Mind Power Like The Elite Special Forces

Indoctrinate Yourself to Control Your Thoughts

The United States Air Force has a group of incredibly elite soldiers called “Pararescue Jumpers” that are just an amazing group of individuals. These soldiers are truly a special breed of super humans. The military sends them in under the most unbelievable conditions so that they can recover personnel in humanitarian and hostile combat environments. These one of a kind supermen possess all the combat skills of the elite special forces combined with the life saving skills of a medical doctor. Their job is to save lives during the most hostile combat situations imaginable. They are absolutely amazing at what they do. They are suppose to be able to perform under barrages of bullets and bombs, while they rescue those personnel who’s lives are in extreme danger. They perform miracles when everything seems to be impossible. They save lives when no one expects to even have a chance of survival. Pararescue Jumpers perform their duty so “That Others May Live”.

The Pararescue Code States: It is my duty as a Pararescueman to save life and to aid the injured. I will be prepared at all times to perform my assigned duties quickly and efficiently, placing these duties before personal desires and comforts. These things I do, that others may live. Can you believe that? There motto is “That Others May Live”.

Looking For a Few Good Men

Only the best of the best can try to endure the unthinkable for two years so they can have the honor of calling themselves a Pararescue Jumper or “PJ” as they are often called. You have to survive and complete a two year program called “Superman School”. This is basically two years of torture, I mean two years of training designed to get the PJ’s prepared for their extremely difficult missions. Those achievers who successfully complete “Superman School” are put through two years of incredibly intense physical and mental training that is designed to break the average super human’s will in half. The Air Force enrolls dozens of already successful soldiers, but only the most determined will graduate “Superman School”. Classes to “Superman School” usually have about 60 people in them but sometimes only as few as four to six heroes will graduate. The dropout rate is about 90%, making it the highest training drop-out rate in the entire U.S. military Special Operations community.

Two Years of Torture, I Mean Training

The first 9 weeks of training is the most difficult part of the two year training program that a participant must successfully pass. This 9 week course is called the “Pararescue/Combat Rescue Officer Indoctrination Course”. It is designed to get the average super human to quit so the Air Force can find that one of a kind extraordinary super human that is an unstoppable force. During these 9 weeks, the nastiest of the nasty trainers put participants through extensive physical conditioning consisting of swimming, running, weight training and calisthenics. These trainers go out of their way to make the already impossible training even more impossible by making it harder any way they can. The Indoctrination Course helps prepare students for the extreme rigors of training and the unbelievably extreme demands of the PJ’s lifestyle. When I say extensive physical training, I mean unimaginable extensive physical training designed to make super humans quit. They strive to create an environment so difficult to survive in because they want to get them ready for the impossible missions they are expected to complete on a regular basis. They know that the majority are going to fail. The trainers are not looking for regular super humans, they are looking for the extraordinary super humans that will never quit. I repeat, these guys never quit.

They Indoctrinate You to Never Quit

The Indoctrination Course is designed to make the majority of the participants quit so they can find that rare individual. The trainers try to indoctrinate the belief  that no matter what, you never quit. They constantly remind them that their code is “That Others Will Live”. What is amazing about the “Indoctrination Course” is that it usually isn’t the strongest or the most gifted athletes who pass. As General Eisenhower liked to say, “What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog.” It is usually the most mentally strong extraordinary super humans that make it. These 4 to 6 extraordinary super humans who pass the “Indoctrination Course” are the ones who bought into the trainers never quit belief system. The trainers indoctrinate the belief that quitting is their choice and their choice only. The indoctrinated few individuals who actually do make it are the ones who believed without a doubt that they would never quit.

How do You Get Someone to Never Quit no Matter What?

You indoctrinate them to believe that quitting is not an option. You indoctrinate them to believe that they have the power to achieve anything they desire. You indoctrinate them to believe that they will be prepared to overcome any challenge that they may face. The extraordinary super humans that bought into the trainers indoctrination process are the ones who developed the mental mind power required to make it through the U.S. military’s most difficult test. These extraordinary few who pass all the courses required to graduate are the ones who never let doubt enter their thoughts. They were indoctrinated to believe that they would never quit.

Doubt Breeds Bigger Doubt

The trainers claim that when they notice a participant entertaining doubt in their abilities, it only ends up breeding more doubt. This doubt causes their physical abilities to rapidly diminish. This doubt magnifies by the thought until it it eventually leads to thoughts of quitting. When they start thinking of quitting, they mentally and physically fall apart until they quit. This mental breakdown is a chain reaction that was triggered by a single negative thought that led to more negative thoughts. These negative thoughts created doubt where doubt was previously non-existent. Limiting thoughts keep growing and they produce mediocre actions that eventually become performance failures. These performance failures end up leading to mental breakdowns. These mental breakdowns always lead to quitting. The failure of these participants was always triggered by negative thoughts and doubts in their abilities.

What Can We Learn From These Extraordinary Super Humans?

Success leaves clues, there is so much we can learn from these extraordinary super humans known as PJ’s.
