Positive Attitudes are Essential to Success. 13 Steps to a Positive Attitude

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Whenever a successful person walks into a room you can usually feel their presence immediately when they enter and long after they leave. What is it that makes them stand out from the crowd? Its usually their unforgettable attitude. Successful people will always tell you that a positive mental attitude is essential to achieving any long term success.

When the world economy was great, the world was already filled with more negative attitudes than positive ones. With the economy being in the shape that it is in today, the negative people are desperately looking for more victims to join their poison party movement because misery loves company. A positive mental attitude has never been more important than it is today. How do you stay away from the plague of negativity? It is easier said than done but it is certainly not impossible. Follow these steps and you will be on your way to achieving the success that you desire.

Essential Steps to Having a Positive Mental Attitude

1. The quality of your life is going to depend on the quality of your thoughts.

All experiences in your life are shaped by your thoughts. Your life will follow your dominant mental thoughts, therefore you need to constantly think of the most empowering thoughts. Never let a negative thought enter your head. If you only focus on positive and empowering thoughts, you will be in complete control of your feelings and emotions. The success that you desire will be become your reality when your thoughts are empowering.

2. Stay away from negative individuals because their poisonous attitudes are infectious.

Keep your mind closed to any negative and discouraging influences. This includes any negative and limiting beliefs of your friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances. Negative people are detrimental to success because they desire to bring down anyone who will join them. Keep them out of sight, out of mind or else you will be infected with their poisonous attitude.

3. Believe you can achieve anything you desire.

Successful people believe they can achieve anything they desire. They get excited when they hear the word impossible because it persistently drives them to make the impossible possible to achieve. Believing in your abilities to achieve no matter what the odds are will always give you the highest and best chance to achieve the results that you desire. It doesn’t matter what others believe you can achieve, it only matters what you believe you can achieve.

4. Never stop believing in hope because they don’t believe in failure.

There are countless stories of people achieving greatness after failing over and over again. Successful people with positive attitudes don’t believe in failure, they only believe in outcomes. If they don’t get the outcome that they desire they keep changing their approach until they achieve the results that they desire. Whether they fail 100 times or 1,000 times, they believe that success is their only option. Never stop believing, because whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can’t, you are right. If you have hope, you will find a way to make it happen so never stop believing.

5. Focus on the future and never look back.

The only thing you can do with the past is to learn from it so you can be better prepared for your future. Focus on the future and all of its possibilities. Focus on the future and all of the results that you desire. You are the creator of your future.

6. Find the positive side of every negative situation.

Life is what you make of it. There is usually something positive that you can discover from every negative situation. It all depends on your outlook. Make sure you are an optimistic person. Look for the positives instead of the negatives. Remember what Martin Luther King said, “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.” Difficult times require your best efforts. You must step up and be a leader when the regular people are looking for guidance. Difficulties strengthen the soul so look at the positive side of your pain. What doesn’t break you will make you.

7. Always be aware of opportunities.

Opportunity doesn’t go away, they just goe to someone else. There are so many opportunities out there right now it is crazy. Make sure you take advantage of them because you never know when they will disappear. The greatest risk is the one you don’t take. Think of solutions to people’s problems. It is times like these when ordinary people have become extraordinary people because they create new solutions to people’s problems. You can be the one who achieves this success if you dare to be great. Everything that exists in the world today was started by a thought from someone like you and me.

8. Never stop having fun in your life.

Happiness comes from within, discover what makes you happy and bottle it. Life is so amazing when you are having fun. Find a new hobby or rediscover and old one. Work hard but make sure you play just as hard. Have a smile on your face because they are contagious. You are not here for a long time, you are here for a good time. It isn’t a job if you are having a fun time while you do it.

9. Exercise, exercise, exercise.

Exercising will make you feel so positive because you know there is so many health benefits behind it. Exercising on a regular basis will let you live a longer and healthier life. Exercising will give you more energy and it will have you feeling great. It will make you look better. I have been exercising like never before and I can’t tell you how awesome the impact has been on me.

10. Always be striving to help make other people’s lives better.

You will get everything you want in life if you help others get everything they want in their lives. Helping people in need is an extraordinary feeling. Mentor someone who could use your wisdom because you will impact their life forever. Spend time with people who could use a friend. Volunteer your time and connections for local charities. Help your friends when they need you because helping people is one of life’s most satisfying actions.

11. Commit yourself to constant and never ending improvement.

It is times like this when you need to sharpen your skills and knowledge so you can stand out above the rest of the crowd. Never stop learning because you can learn something new everyday. Read at least an hour a day. Listen to motivational cd’s. Learn new skills and knowledge online. This is the information age, use the technology that you have available to you so you can be the best that you can be. Dedicate yourself to constant and never ending improvement.

12. Successful people surround themselves with people who are empowering.

Success leaves clues. Learn from the best of the best. Don’t hang around the buzzards of the world. Soar with the eagles that fly high. You should network with achievers so that you are constantly pushing yourself to match their success. Surrounding yourself with achievers will always bring out the best of your abilities.

13. Constantly ask yourself empowering questions.

The more empowering questions you ask yourself, the more empowered you will be. Ask yourself empowering questions everyday. When you wake up in the morning ask yourself, “What can I do to achieve greatness today?” “What can I do to get me closer to the success that I desire?” “What can I do to make me a better person?”

Follow these steps and your positive mental attitude will give you the success that you desire. Never before has a positive attitude been so essential to achieving success. Make your attitude one of your best characteristics and I will see you at the promise land of success.

Success Depends on You. Are You Going to be Successful?

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Do You Have What it Takes to Achieve What You Desire?

Have you ever asked yourself “I wonder what it takes to be successful?” If you had the answer to that question, would you be successful then? Or would you keep getting the same results that you have been getting? Whether or not you are going to successful at anything you do will always depend entirely up to you. Are you willing to do what it takes to achieve what you desire? Most people can think of how they are going to be successful, but they usually will not do what it takes to be successful. Are you willing to do what it takes to be successful?

Success is 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical.

I cannot stress to you enough that the results that you desire in your life, will always depend on the way that you think. The quality of your life is going to come down to the quality of your thoughts. Very little has to do with physical power or physical actions. Even the highest caliber athletes usually have the same skill sets as each other. What separates the best from the rest is the quality of their thoughts. The great news is that we are all created equal. What makes us different is how we use our minds and our hearts. The achievers of the world will always have a mental edge over their competitors. They always have, and they always will. I talk about Tiger Woods a lot because he is an achieving machine. You can learn so much from him. Tiger is mentally tougher than any golfer out there. He is probably one of the most mentally tough athletes ever. He knows that he can always elevate his golf game to another level that his competitors can only dream about. Michael Jordan was determined to win and he played with an unmatched burning desire to succeed. MJ would always do whatever it took to beat his competition. The reason he was so successful is because of his unstoppable will to win, period, end of discussion. That is why he won six championship rings. Was there people who had the same basketball abilities as Michael? Yes, but once again, it was his mental edge and his belief in his abilities to win. MJ was the greatest player to ever play Basketball. Even today, there are people who can hit the ball as good, if not better than Tiger Woods. Tiger doesn’t lead every category in golf, but the category that he leads in is the category that counts. Tiger is mentally better than anyone who has ever played the game of golf and that is exactly why he is the greatest golfer ever. Start thinking like these achievers, start acting like these achievers. Can you imagine yourself with a mindset like Tiger or MJ?

Will There Ever be Better Than the Greatest?

Will there ever be a better basketball player than Michael Jordan? Will there ever be a greater golfer than Tiger. Of course, but not until someone comes along that is willing to do what they did and them some. Not until someone comes along who is going to model them so they can understand everything that they did to become the best. This future achiever will know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they can be the best. This future achiever will know exactly what they will have to do in order to be the best, it will be crystal clear to them. This future achiever will not believe in failure. They will only believe that nothing can stop them. They will only believe that achieving the results that they desire is their only option. Is this what you believe? Could you benefit from having beliefs like this? What could you achieve if you knew you couldn’t fail?

What are the Quality of Your Thoughts?

The biggest battle that you will ever fight in your life is the battle between your head. Are you going to use your thoughts to empower you or are you going to use your thoughts to demoralize you?   Are you a believer in your abilities to achieve? Or do you sabotage your success before you even try? Do you know exactly what you want to achieve? Do you know exactly what you will have to do to outperform your competition? We all know that Henry Ford said, “Whether you believe you can, or whether you believe you can’t, you are right.” The question is what do you believe you can do? What are you willing to do to achieve the results that you desire? Make yourself mentally strong so that you can achieve anything you desire. Make yourself mentally strong so that you can become the best that you can be. Build yourself an unstoppable belief system so you can become an unstoppable person. Ask yourself empowering questions. Remember, SUCCESS is 90% MENTAL and 10% PHYSICAL, so empower your mind to achieve anything you desire. Empower you mind so that you can live the life that you have always dreamed of. I know you can, so take your passion and make it happen.

Farrah Fawcett is an Inspiration to Those Battling Cancer

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Farrah Fawcett has been an American icon since 1976 when her famous poster of her wearing a red swimsuit went on to sell over 12 million copies. That is a sales record that is still unrivaled today. Farrah and her world famous “Farrah hair” became an international hair trend, inspiring millions of women all over the world to emulate her incredible hair style. Farrah Fawcett went on to have a very successful career appearing in several movies, plays, and television shows over the last 30 years. In 2007, GQ Magazine named that famous poster the most influential piece of men’s art of the last 50 years.

Just like every guy who ever laid eyes on that poster, it was love at first sight with Farrah Fawcett for me. I don’t know if it was that magical hair, or her mesmerizing smile. Whatever it was about Farrah Fawcett had me in a trance. To me, she was one of the most beautiful ladies I had ever seen.

When I found out that Farrah had been diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, I was saddened just like her millions of other fans. In fact, whenever I hear of anyone who is diagnosed with cancer it really touches me because I have lost a few friends to cancer over the years. I have been around various charities like “Kids Beating Cancer” and “The Make a Wish Foundation”. Cancer is an illness that can strike anyone. It affects people from all walks of life. Cancer doesn’t care what your race is, cancer doesn’t care how old you are, or how much money you have or don’t have. I just found out that there is a 10 year old girl who is battling breast cancer. Kids that are 10 years old are not supposed to get breast cancer. If that doesn’t show you that cancer can strike anyone, I don’t know what will. I think we all know someone who has battled this devastating illness. Some people win the battle against cancer, while countless others lose their lives to cancer.

Last Friday I witness a special on NBC called “Farrah’s Story” chronicling her battle with her cancer. Over 9 million people viewed this documentary showing Farrah’s battle with cancer. I am sure it moved everyone the same way it moved me. It showed her facing her illness with incredible resolve and incredible resiliency. Farrah and her friend Alana Stewart documented her battle against cancer over the last three years, giving an inside look to what her battle with cancer has been like. It showed her incredible desire to live. Farrah has exceeded her life expectancy that her doctors had originally given her. I think her miracle of life has been because of her positive attitude and her strong desire to live. I don’t want to give you too many details of Farrah’s Story because I recommend that you see it for yourself. Be prepared to cry because I had tears several times throughout the two hour special and when I wasn’t crying, I was fighting to hold the tears in. It made me fall in love with her all over again. This documentary has to be so inspiring to those who are battling cancer and even for those who are battling issues in their lives. It is not the length of your life that matters, it is the way you live it.

Many people are battling various issues today that may seem like the end of the world is around the corner. Some people are losing their homes, some people are losing there jobs, while others have lost money to bad investments. What if you were losing your life? What if you were only given a few months to live? How would you act then? Would you care about your car? Would you care about your career? I don’t think so….. If you are among the lucky people of the world who are in good health, be grateful. If you have your health, you can achieve anything you desire. If you have your health, you can accomplish greatness in whatever you choose to do. I know there are some difficult times out there for many people, but how difficult would life be if you had cancer? All the money in the world couldn’t help you. Next time you catch yourself being negative, stop what you are doing and look at the positives in your life. Look at how lucky you are to be healthy. Think about how fortunate you are to be facing the difficulties that you have. Don’t let negative thoughts enter your head. They are terrible for you and your health. Think of all the amazing things that you have going for you. Think about the promise and possibilities that your future holds.

Please watch “Farrah’s Story” for yourself so you can be thankful for the health that you have in your life. Go to her website at http://www.farrahfawcett.us to buy her famous poster. The proceeds go to help fund the fight against cancer. Volunteer at a cancer charity because you can make a difference in the battle that others are facing against cancer. I dedicate this to all those people who are battling cancer, to all those people who have defeated their cancer, and to those who have lost their lives to cancer. May you have peace, love, and happiness.

What Would you Sacrifice to Achieve Greatness?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

How to be Great at What you do?

I can’t tell you how many times I get asked the question, “What does it take to become great at what you do?” The answer to that question is always the same. Number 1, it takes a burning desire to succeed. Number 2, you have to consistently out perform your competition. That means that when your competition is done working, you are still firing away to become the best at your craft. Achievers are committed to constant and never ending improvement. People who are great at what they do are usually willing to make the sacrifices that their competitors wouldn’t dream of doing.

It Takes so Much More Than the Average Person is Willing to do.

People always want to travel down the path of least resistance. People are always looking to take the easy way out. The easy way out is only going to get you easy results. Nothing great comes easy. If greatness came easy, then it wouldn’t be great and everyone would be doing it. Lets take Tiger Woods for example. This achiever has been making sacrifices that are unheard of since he was a kid. Tiger Woods became the champion that he is because of the sacrifices that he has made on the practice field. Tiger’s work ethic is unbelievable. I will never forget when I saw him practicing in the Florida heat when he had finished his round at the Bay Hill Invitational where he was clearly in the lead over everyone he was competing against. How many professional athletes would go practice their craft after blowing away the competition? The sacrifices that Tiger Woods has been making over the years is the reason Tiger is the greatest golfer of all time.

What are you Willing to do?

Do you make the sacrifices necessary in your field to be head and shoulders above your competition?  Are you willing to put in the kind of dedication required to be the best at what you do? If not, you need to reevaluate your commitment to becoming successful? You have to go back and see what it is that you really want in your life. If you want to become successful at what you do, you must be willing to make the sacrifices that your competition is not doing. What kind of sacrifices are you going to make to make your dreams come true? What could you start doing today that you haven’t been doing that will bring you closer to achieving the success that you desire? Remember, the sacrifices you make today will always pay off tomorrow.

Hooman Hamzehloui Interview by Nancy Welker.

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Nancy Welker:   Thank you for taking the time to be with us today, Hooman.  Tell us more about yourself and what you currently do

I am a motivational speaker living the life of my dreams. I have overcome adversity in my life to achieve greatness. It hasn’t been easy, achieving extraordinary outcomes never is. I have made it through the toughest of times remember quotes like this one which is one of my favorite quotes, “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars,” by Martin Luther King.

I am set to release my first book this year which will show people how to overcome adversity with power and control over your thoughts and actions.

Currently with this economy, I am helping all kinds of people and businesses overcome their current obstacles so they can achieve the results that they desire. Just because the overall economy is bad, doesn’t mean that your economy has to be bad.

I have several exciting projects with the web that I am working on. I believe that the web is the way to go for entrepreneurs. There is just so much reward with so little risk. You have to truly stand out above and beyond your competition because it is a very competitive marketplace.

I am also a single father of an 11 year old boy and an eight year old girl. They are my pride and joy. I feel like the luckiest man in the world because I have them in my life.

Nancy Welker:  You once faced a very difficult period.  An NBA player, Dikembe Mutombo,  took insult to a comment  you made, and this caused you to become banned from going to games nationwide, receive hate mail, and go into depression.   Please tell us about that, and what happened since.

I believe everything happens for a reason. I just couldn’t see what that reason for that experience was at first. I was having the best year of my life. I was almost done building my dream home which was a two year project. My real estate company had just sold 55 million in sales which I was personally responsible for 30 million all by myself. I had four cars, I thought I had it all. I was so wrong.

Well after I saw how bad of a mess I had gotten into, I blamed nobody but myself. I felt like I had brought out all of this racist hate from people all over the world. I didn’t have a racist bone in my body so I really felt horrible for what I had done. I beat myself up so bad that I went from being one of the most motivated people in the planet to a person who didn’t care about anything. I was spiraling out of control in a deep and dark depression. All I did was sleep. I couldn’t do anything but sleep. After six months of feeling terrible from my depression, I was looking in the mirror one day and said, “Hooman, this isn’t you. You are an achiever, not this loser you have become. You have to turn this unbelievable negative into the greatest positive in your life.” That experience became my catalyst for change.

I realized that this horrible experience happen to me to inspire me to pursue my life long dream of being a motivational speaker. I knew I didn’t want to be remembered by that incident. I wanted to be remembered as the person who turned the worst night of my life into the best night of my life. I wanted to help people who were suffering from depression. I saw how easy it was from me to go from being super motivated to being super depressed by having bad thoughts. I knew the reason I had this experienced was to tell people my story so they could overcome their bad experiences and turn their lives around. That is why I decided to write my book and pursue my dream of becoming a motivational speaker. I wanted to help as many people as I could to overcome their limiting beliefs so they could achieve the success that they had always dreamed of.

Nancy Welker:  Your optimism and determination surely come through in what you write.  At one time you were, in your words, “afraid of failing.”  That’s something we all can relate to.  How did you transform that fear into the positive attitude you now have?

When I was selling cars I heard my first motivational speech at the age of 22. I knew that was going to be my dream job. I knew that one day I would become a motivational speaker. I just had convinced myself that nobody would listen to a 22 year old. Henry Ford said, “Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can’t, you are right.” I had convinced myself that if I tried to become a motivational speaker that I would have failed. However, I was just making excuses because I was afraid to even give it a try. Looking back, I could think of many different audiences that I could have motivated.

I decided to continue to pursue a career in sales because I had a baby when I was 22 and I had to feed my family. I knew that I would have to have a lot of sales success under my belt before I could even consider a chance to become a motivational speaker.

Ever since my first motivational meeting, I always had a positive attitude. The more motivational books I read and the more motivation I listened to, my attitude and my determination grew. The more success I achieved the more determined I was to succeed.

I think a positive attitude is critical to being a happy person in your life. It is also critical to becoming a successful person. One of the other keys to becoming successful is you need to have unstoppable determination. You must be determined to succeed without letting anything get in your way. I had many failures and setbacks along the way. Each time I experienced a setback, I learned from it. Through my motivational studies, I learned that failure was just a part of the process to becoming successful. I learned that failure can either be used as a stepping stone, or a stumbling block. I learned that failure was just a chance to begin again with a better approach. One of my other favorite quotes is by Henry Ford. He said, “Win or learn, there is no failure.”

I am at a point of my life now where I am not afraid of anything. I know that there is nothing that is going to come my way which I can’t overcome. If you truly want to be successful in this crazy world that we live in, you must fear nothing and you must have a burning desire to succeed. The other critical key to success is that no matter what business you are in, you must take care of your clients or else someone else will. Your clients are everything. You must go out of your way to exceed their highest expectations.

Nancy Welker:  One of the things you focus on is helping others “break out of their normal, daily lives…” What are some of the first things you suggest to people who want to achieve that?

One of the first things that I suggest my clients do is to eliminate negative thoughts. I tell them that the quality of their lives is going to come down to the quality of their thoughts. I get them to understand that they can achieve anything they believe in. We are all created equal. We all have the ability to achieve greatness in our lives. It is up to us to unleash that greatness.

So for anyone out there that is struggling, I recommend that you start by resetting your mind so you can create a complete new and empowering belief system. Don’t believe in what others believe you can achieve. It only matters what you believe you can achieve. You and only you are the master of your destiny. You can achieve any result that you desire with power and control over your thoughts and actions.

Nancy Welker: What are your own goals for the future?  What would you like to achieve most?

My goals are as following. I want to start traveling throughout the United States and various destinations overseas with my motivational speaking tour. Anthony Robbins in my opinion is the greatest motivational speaker of all time. I want to follow in his footsteps so I can achieve similar results. I believe that success leaves clues. You can achieve the same results as the top achiever in any field by modeling their habits and beliefs.

I want to continue with my business ventures online so I can create as much wealth as possible because I want to use this money to open up a chain of private schools. I don’t believe in the education in America. I believe that we can teach the children of the future knowledge that will have them better prepared for the real world. I would love to teach the kids better communication skills. I would love to teach these kids better belief systems that can get them to achieve much more in life than the average person. I want to show these kids that the sky is no longer the limit, outer space is. Half of my students will be under privileged kids who will not have to pay tuition because of their parents economic situations. The other half will be kids be from parents who can afford the tuition. I believe that every child deserves the best education. I believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed.

Nancy Welker: One last question.  How do you define beauty?

To me beauty comes from within. There are so many people who believe that beauty is from the outside but I tend to disagree. They will bend over backwards trying to work on their physical appearance and they will not pay any attention to their inner beauty. I have met people who are absolutely beautiful on the outside but as soon as they open up their mouths they make themselves look ugly. I have also met many people who are absolutely stunning in appearance and their inner beauty is even more beautiful than their outer beauty. This makes a person become incredibly beautiful. I believe that if people have a great personality then they are absolutely  beautiful.

At this point, I say thank you once again for joining us. In particular, please let me know where I can tell my readers they can find your book, “Mutombo and Me”.

My book will be out by fall. It will be available on my website, amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles and various other book stores. Thank you so much for your interview. I hope your readers will enjoy it.
