Tiger Woods is the Greatest Golfer Ever. Be Like Tiger Woods.

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Tiger Woods won his 66th golf title in dramatic fashion by sinking a 15 foot putt to win his sixth victory at the Bay Hill Invitational last Sunday. It was the third time that Tiger had nailed a lengthy putt on the 18th hole to win at Bay Hill. Tiger knew it was going to be in the hole the second he putted. Due to a nine month layoff from golf, some people seemed surprised that Tiger was able to pull this off. Not me, I know what Tiger is made of. He truly made it look like he was hitting a tap in putt.

Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer of all time. If the golf world didn’t already know that, I think after Sunday’s performance at Bay Hill, Tiger made it official. (In my opinion this has been known for a while.) He is the greatest golfer of all time. He is so fun to watch because he makes great things happen while he makes it look easy. What I love about Tiger is that he is one of the greatest examples in the world to follow if you want to be successful. Whether you play golf or not, if you want to be successful in life, do what Tiger Woods does. Success leaves clues so follow him down to a T. Model everything that this achiever does because there is so much that you can learn from this achiever.

What separates Tiger from the rest of the golf professionals? What makes Tiger so special? Two things that really set Tiger apart from the rest of the golf world is his preparation and his mental toughness. To learn more about Tiger’s incredible practice and preparation habits check out What do I want to be when I grow up? Tiger’s practice habits are one of a kind. No one practices their craft the way Tiger does. If you want to be good at what you do, practice, practice, practice. When Tiger Woods finishes a tournament, he goes and practices even after his round is over. That is one achiever that is dedicated to constant and never ending improvement.

The second factor that makes Tiger so great is his mental toughness. When Tiger doesn’t play in certain tournaments, the first thing out of the winners mouth is “I would like to thank Tiger Woods for not playing in this tournament.” Even though they play it off as a joke, they are dead serious. When these golfers play in a tournament that Tiger is playing in, they are always playing for second place because they know that Tiger is going to take first. Tiger isn’t playing against the other golf professionals. Tiger is playing against history. He can elevate his game at any time to rise up against his level of competition. So if someone is playing out of their minds, he will step up his game to play a little better.

Be like Tiger Woods. Practice as much as you can. Practice at your weaknesses until they become a strength. Believe in your abilities to achieve the same way that Tiger believes in his abilities. Tiger doesn’t believe in failure. You shouldn’t believe in failure either. Failure is just an opportunity to begin again more intelligently. Failure is just an outcome. If you don’t get the outcome you desire keep changing your approach until you get the results that you desire. Tiger doesn’t let negative thoughts enter his head, neither should you. You are what you think. Bad thoughts = bad feelings. Great thoughts = great feelings. It is impossible to feel bad when your thoughts are good. With power and control over your thoughts and actions, you can achieve the greatest outcomes of your life. Let your empowering thoughts take you to a level of success that you have never been. Start living your life the way that Tiger lives his. Remember success leaves clues. Model the best achievers so you can achieve similar results. If you don’t your competition will.

Make a Difference in the World.

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Now is the time to make a difference in the world. You are desperately needed to rise to the occasion. I am challenging you to make a difference in the world today. Plato said, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Never have those words been more accurate then they are now. So many people are struggling to make things happen in their lives it is unbelievable. People from all walks of lives are truly struggling, yet they have to keep on keeping on. They have mouths to feed, bills to pay, and obligations to meet. Each day I have so many people coming to me for advice. I tell them to focus on the future and never stop believing in their abilities to achieve. I also give them this valuable advice. Do what you can to make a difference in people’s lives.

Zig Ziglar said, “You will have all the things you want in your life, if you help others get all the things that they want in their lives.” Helping someone will give you an unbelievable feeling of fulfillment. No matter how bad one may have it, there will always be many people who you wouldn’t want to spend a moment in their shoes. You can also help those who are more fortunate than you. You have to give in order to receive. You have to have an attitude of gratitude. You have to give without any expectation in receiving anything in return.

Here are 8 steps that you can take tomorrow to make a difference in someone’s life.

1. Smile – Smiling can be very contagious. Smile as much as you can to anyone and everyone.

2. Help – Helping someone in need of help. Help someone change a flat tire. Help someone push their car to the side of the road. There are countless ways where you can help someone. Get creative with your giving.

3. Volunteer – Volunteer at a hospital. Volunteer at a nursing home. Visit a lonely person in a nursing home. Volunteer at a shelter of some kind. Volunteer at a school. School boards all over the country are broke and could really use your help.

4. Mentoring – Mentor troubled teens in high school by joining some kind of mentoring program. This makes a huge difference in someone’s life. I almost dropped out of high school. When I joined a program for at risk teens, my mentor’s few visits with me were extremely helpful to me. He was a corporate executive with Walt Disney World. I will never forget his impact on me. If it wasn’t for people like him, I wonder where I would be today.

5. Kind – Be kind to strangers in public. Don’t get involved with road rage. Let cars go in front of you. Let someone with less items in the grocery store go before you. Be kind in crowded places. Open doors for people. Practice random acts of kindness as often as you can.

6. Donate – Donate your old clothes or furniture. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. I know you have old junk all over your home. Do something with it. Donate it to a charity that gives it to those who are in need.

7. Adopt a pet – Adopting a pet will save an animals life and bring unlimited amounts of joy to your life. Due to the economy, there is a lot of great pets who could use good homes. Find a great pet at the Humane Society or at various pet rescues.

8. Adopt a child – Many people will make an incredible difference in a child’s life by adopting them. Nothing in my life has given me the joy that my children have. I am so proud of being a father. It is the most significant accomplishment in my life. I love children. I have an 11 year old boy, and an 8 year old girl. I am definitely planning on having more children in the future. I love children so much. Nothing brings the amount of joy that a child can bring to a home.

There are countless other ways to make a difference in the world. Like starting your own charity, or doing some kind of community service. Do whatever you like to make a difference, just make sure you do something.

Challenge Yourself to Achieve Outside Your Comfort Zone

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Consistently challenging yourself to achieve outside of your current abilities is extremely important if you want to achieve greatness in your life. Can you imagine how far back our society would be if we didn’t strive to push our achievements to the next level on a regular basis? We would still be banging rocks together to start fires if we hadn’t pushed  ourselves to achieve constant and never ending improvement. We wouldn’t have gone to the moon in the 60’s if we weren’t challenging ourselves. We wouldn’t have this wonderful technology called the internet if we hadn’t stretched our abilities to achieve.

The way I see it, stretching our abilities to achieve outside of our current abilities is just human nature. We all have this wonderful ability to achieve greatness inside of us. Although not everyone is tapping into this unlimited potential to achieve greatness because they don’t believe in their abilities to achieve. Somewhere along the line they might have failed at something and decided that achieving greatness was not in their abilities. Or maybe someone in their family has been consistently telling them that they can’t do this, or they can’t do that. Never forget one of the best quotes of all time by Henry Ford, “Whether you believe you can, or whether you believe you can’t, you are right.” You and only you are the one who can decide whether you can achieve greatness or not. You are the creator of your future. The million dollar question is, what kind of future do you want for yourself?

If you want to achieve greatness, stretching your abilities is something you will have to get comfortable with. Remember, you can achieve anything you desire if you truly believe that you can achieve the outcome that you desire. You will have to challenge yourself because you are trying to achieve something that is outside of your current abilities. Achieving greatness is never going to be easy to achieve. In fact, it might be one of the most difficult challenges of your life. You have to be prepared to for a struggle. You have to be committed to your success. If you are thinking of failure even being a possibility, you are destined to fail. If you believe that success is your only option, you will succeed. Don’t believe in failure, because failure is only an outcome. If you don’t get the outcome that you desire, keep changing your approach until you succeed. Remember the great words of Socrates, “Stepping stones or stumbling blocks,  how do you look at failure?” Remember the great words of Henry Ford, “Win or learn, there is no failure.”

Challenge yourself today to achieve something that is outside of your current abilities. Get excited about your goals. Get excited about your life. Live with passion and urgency. I have a dream, and it is a deeply rooted dream. What is your dream? Are you taking the necessary actions to achieve your dream? If not, get on the right path today so you can get to the promise land of success. I know you have it in you. Make it happen now.

Motivational Quotes From Some of the Greatest Thinkers of all Time. Part 11

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Motivational quotes have been a huge inspiration to me over the years. When I would a hear motivational quote that I liked, I would immediately write it down and then I would memorize it. Once I memorized an awesome quote, it was mine forever. Whenever I had an opportunity to share an empowering quote with someone I would. Wisdom is a wonderful thing to discover, but there comes a duty with discovering wisdom. You must share your wisdom with others so they can continue to pass the wisdom on.

Last year I did a ten part series called “25 Motivational Quotes From Some of the Greatest Thinkers of all Time.” Click here to find all ten parts. It was extremely popular with my readers.

I have decided to expand on that series because I firmly believe that people can get really inspired by memorizing motivational quotes. When you find a quote that you love, take ownership of it and use it forever. Then share it with others, so they can experience

this empowerment too. There will always be different quotes for different folks so find the ones that you love and make them yours. I know what memorizing quotes has done for my life, I hope that this practice will do the same for you.

“It is not of so much consequence what you say, as how you say it.”

Alexandra Smith

“Experiences is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him.”

Buddha

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”
